94103

a photobook by Harvey Lozada

ABOUT THE BOOK

Visual storyteller Harvey Lozada makes his self-publishing debut with 94103, a photographic series documenting mutual aid efforts in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood during the COVID-19 pandemic. A reflection of Harvey's journey as a first-time filmmaker, 94103 is a collection of ethnographic photographs and portraits made during the creation of "IT TAKES THE HOOD TO SAVE THE HOOD," a short film presented at The Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center of San Francisco 24th Annual United States of Asian America Festival 2021: FORGING OUR FUTURES - SOMA & CHINATOWN.

94103 pays homage to the unsung heroes and sheroes who risked their lives to provide basic needs to those most affected by the pandemic. The camaraderie and shared love for the community is a testament to SoMa's deep roots in coalition building, living up to the UNITED PLAYAZ mindset and motto: "It takes the hood to save the hood."
